(Re)Visioning Her-Story: The Black Female Body in Black Female Imagination at the National Museum of African Art
The National Museum of African Art hosted a conversation with artists Mary Sibande, Ayana V. Jackson, Panashe Chigumadzi and Lanisa Kitchiner to discuss how they use their art to provoke thought in a zeitgeist of racial tension. The panel discussed the themes of their art and the ways in which they present the black female figure.

Panashe Chigumadzi is a South African and Zimbabwean writer. She is the recipient of 2016 Sello Duiker Literary Award. |

The National Museum of African Art also welcomes a new exhibition Visionary: Viewpoints on Africa's Art which opens November 4, 2017. Visionary aims to give visitors a closer look at African art while forcing them to see further into its history, complexity and beauty.
