The Embassy of Haiti's Trivia Night and Open House

On Thursday September 14, 2017 the Embassy of Haiti hosted Trivia Night Thursdays, an evening complete with laughter, games, new friends, and complimentary beverages.

The event takes place weekly as a way to share the colorful and rich culture that is Haiti to a broader audience in the Washington Metropolitan area. The extremely diverse group of attendees were treated to a fantastic tour of the premises complete with artwork from Haitian artists as well as information on both known and unknown figures that complete its history.

The group was broken down to smaller teams in the effort to win an unknown but coveted surprise. After several competitive and extremely entertaining rounds, only one team was prized with the fabulous gift of pillows designed by a top Haitian artist and a dinner with the Haitian Ambassador, Mr. Paul Altidor himself.

Gordon Parks | A Harlem Family 1968

In 1968 famous photographer Gordon Parks produced a series of shocking photos chronicling the life of a Harlem family plagued by hard times. Parks set out to showcase an intimate look at what causes so much chaos in inner cities and the people who are directly effected by it. DRIES : A Film By Reiner Holzemer

On November 16, The Hirshorn Museum and Relish came together to provide guests with a special screening of DRIES, a documentary by Reiner Holzemer which shows the intimate portrait of the fashion designer Dries Van Noten. After, guests were treated to an intimate conversation between Holzemer and Pulitzer Prize- winning fashion critic Robin Givhan. Reiner Holzemer shares a smile after a successful screening As expected, guests of the event showed up in their Sunday's best adding a stylish flair to the evening.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art- New York, NY

The Met, as in, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, is a monster of a museum. It houses some of the most famed artists and artifacts throughout centuries of human history. On one end you can learn about the mummification process in ancient Egypt and at the other, you can be standing in a house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The various escapes to different genres of life provides visitors with enough information to settle any curiosities. At this point, I've been able to lay eyes on some of the best museums in the world and The Met just evokes that "Major Alert!" feel. Some museums have quaint cosy vibes, and others pure, simple and fresh, but then the are the "Other, others" which houses more than anything else, visitors.
