(Re)Visioning Her-Story: The Black Female Body in Black Female Imagination at the National Museum of African Art

The National Museum of African Art hosted a conversation with artists Mary Sibande, Ayana V. Jackson, Panashe Chigumadzi and Lanisa Kitchiner to discuss how they use their art to provoke thought in a zeitgeist of racial tension.  The panel discussed the themes of their art and the ways in which they present the black female figure.  Panashe Chigumadzi, Mary Sibande, Ayana V. Jackson                                                              M ary Sibande is a visual artist from South Africa . She is a recipient of the 2017 African Art Award. Ayana V. Jackson is a photographer based between France, South Africa and the United States. Ghada Amer was born in Cairo, Egypt, she is also a recipient of the 2017 African Art Award.
